The Monster Squad

My friends and fellow improvisers, Christian Roman and Don Schmidt, joined me for this year's costume contest. We went as younger versions of the Universal Monsters applying for a transfer to Monsters University. No word yet on the status of our application.

 

Yet another improviser, Kitt Hirasaki, about to get a nasty hickey from Drac. Someone should have told the count that "Nein" means "Nein!"


Super villains unite! Dark Helmet and Magneto were both entirely hand-made. Magneto may be able to move metal, but Drac can move Halloween merchandise!

A HBO liberou hoje, via Making Game of Thrones, um texto com curiosidades sobre as filmagens da segunda temporada de "Game of Thrones", e com ele a primeira imagem oficial dos bastidores. Confira:


Muito bom que o Making Game of Thrones está de volta, sinal de que mais notícias, imagens e vídeos da temporada serão liberados em breve. Fiquem ligados!

[ATUALIZADO] Saíram mais duas imagens do set, dessa vez mostrando bastante sangue e gente morta. Pelo visto teremos muitas batalhas na segunda temporada! Confira:


Another Day, Another Birthday Card


This one's for my friend Rob, who grew up in San Diego. I can only imagine how terrifying it must have been to spend your childhood in such close proximity to the world's most notorious killer whale.

Drizzle fo Shizzle

A birthday card for my buddy Paul, who is used to follow the adventures of the emo drow Drizzt when he was a kid. 



Drizzt has a panther and a possible bi-polar dysfunction, so I couldn't help but whip up a little illustration to go along with Paul's bday present: the Drizzt game that debuted today.


You're welcome, pal.

"Game of Thrones" vence o Scream Awards 2011

Ocorreu no último sábado (15/10) a cerimônia de entrega do Scream Awards 2011, premiação organizada pelo canal de TV dos EUA Spike, e "Game of Thrones" saiu vencedora de 3 prêmios: Melhor Série de TV, Melhor Ator Coadjuvante (Peter Dinklage) e Performance Revelação Feminina (Emilia Clarke).

Os atores Sean Bean (Ned) e Lena Headey (Cersei) subiram ao palco para receber o prêmio de Melhor Série, mas Peter e Emilia não puderam comparecer ao evento devido às filmagens da segunda temporada.

 "Game of Thrones" foi indicada em outras quatro categorias, incluindo Melhor Atriz de Fantasia (Headey), Melhor Ator de Fantasia (Bean), Melhor Figurino, e Mutilação Mais Memorável (a coroação de Viserys), mas infelizmente não venceu em nenhuma delas. A série foi indicada ainda na principal categoria do evento, The Ultimate Scream, mas perdeu para "Harry Potter e as Relíquias da Morte: Parte 2".

The Halloween Tree

As I mentioned in a previous post, I have a tradition of giving my mom a decoration for her Halloween Tree (which was made by my brother) every year, for her Birthday.



This year, the card itself was a decoration. Christmas Trees have tree-toppers, so I figured my mom's Halloween Tree deserves nothing less. And what better Halloween icon than the Jack-O-Lantern?


You can see some of the previous years' decoration/presents above. It was my step-dad Steve's birthday, too, so he got some wine with a Halloweeny skull-bottle-stopper.


On the other side of the card was the limmerick:

The witches are singing from brooms in the sky
While every ghost calls with voices on high
Rather than "Boo!"
It's "Happy Birthday, you two!"
Then they dig into their pumpkin pie.

I may just use my mom's Halloween Tree as inspiration for this week's Chades Challenge: Wicked Trees!

Mais confirmações no elenco de "Game of Thrones"

John Stahl, Sam Callis e Simon Armstrong

Nos últimos dias, mais três nomes foram confirmados no elenco da segunda temporada de "Game of Thrones": John Stahl, Sam Callis e Simon Armstrong.

Stahl, que já participou de séries britânicas como "Holby City", "Doctors" e "Being Human", irá interpretar Rickard Karstark, um dos homens do rei Robb (Richard Madden) que se junta a ele em sua luta contra os Lannister. Callis, outro egresso da TV britânica, irá interpretar um dos homens do manto dourado de Porto Real.

Já Armstrong, que tem experiência em filmes como "O Lavador de Almas", "Amor Extremo", "Revolução em Dagenham" e "Os Especialistas", será Qhorin Meia-Mão, um patrulheiro da Torre da Sombra que Jon (Kit Harrington) encontra além da Muralha.

As filmagens da segunda temporada de "Game of Thrones" continuam até dezembro, então até lá o elenco deve continuar crescendo. A HBO oficializou a estréia da temporada para abril de 2012.

The Emeryville Horror

At Pixar, no one can hear you scream...unfortunately, everyone can hear you sing. 


Our theatre troupe, The Improvibles, is doing a horror musical this Friday. I know it's supposed to be an entirely improvized performance, but I'm already planning to launch into this song as our show closer.

Escalada a atriz que será Ygritte em "Game of Thrones"

A HBO divulgou hoje a escolhida para o último papel importante da segunda temporada de "Game of Thrones".

Segundo o EW, a atriz Rose Leslie (foto), da premiada série britânica "Downton Abbey", foi escalada para viver Ygritte, a selvagem que Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) conhece em suas aventuras além da Muralha. Ygritte é descrita como obstinada, espirituosa, hábil em batalha e sobrevivência; uma beleza não convencional, magra mas forte, com cabelos ruivos (que os selvagens consideram "beijados pelo fogo"). Ou seja, mais uma escolha perfeita!

O arco de Leslie em "Downton Abbey" foi concluído no final da primeira temporada da série, na qual ela interpretou Gwen, uma empregada que eventualmente conquista seu emprego dos sonhos como secretária. Não está claro se ela vai voltar para a série, que retorna à TV inglesa em janeiro.

A segunda temporada de "Game of Thrones", com 10 episódios, estréia nos EUA em abril de 2012.

Dragons are infamous for snatching fair maidens from their castle towers. While it's true that maidens are a wyrm's favorite meal, they are far and few between. A plump aurochs is the most plentiful prey, particularly for the Draconis Dreadlochsi, or common Scottish Dreadloch. 

"Smoking Barrel"

These plein air paintings, drawn on the spot in actual dragon territory, attempt to capture the behavior of the common Dreadloch in his natural environment. It took a while for the farmer and I to coax a dragon close enough to my easel for me to paint, but the art was well worth the wait! 

CHADES CHALLENGE LX: JUBILANT VAN HELSINGS



When you've survived the depths of macabre that Abraham Van Helsing has, there isn't much jubilation left in your soul. Here the professor is, absolutely elated at having rid the world of its last sparkly emo vampire. Abe may not be the kind of guy you'd invite to a party, but he's the first one you want there when you notice one of your guests doesn't cast a reflection in your living room mirror.

Caíram na rede muitas fotos dos bastidores da 2ª temporada de "Game of Thrones", tiradas do set na Croácia, durante o que parecem ser as filmagens da partida da princesa Myrcella (Aimee Richardson). Entre os atores que vemos nas fotos estão Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Rory McCann (Sandor Clegane), Sophie Turner (Sansa) e Jack Gleeson (Joffrey Baratheon).
